2024 Primary Elections
The 2024 Primary Election is on Tuesday, May 7th, 2024. This year, there are many candidates running for local, state and federal office. This site is a nonpartisan resource guide for elected positions that represent all or parts of Monroe County. We encourage you to research the candidates by reading media reports, reviewing each candidate's campaign materials, and contacting candidates directly if you have questions. The deadline to register to vote is Monday, April 8. In-person early voting starts on Tuesday, April 9th. (Hours for early voting at 401 W. 7th St. are posted on the Monroe County Election Central site.) You can apply for an absentee ballot now. Go to the Indiana Voter Portal to apply for an absentee ballot online.

U.S. House of Representatives District 9The Republican Primary will see incumbent Congresswoman Erin Houchin challenged by Hugh Doty. In the Democratic Primary, Dr. Tim Peck and D. Liam Dorris will face-off for their party's nomination. Click here.
Monroe County CommissionerIncumbent Julie Thomas (D) is being challenged by County Councilor Peter Iversen for the County Commissioner District 2 seat. Incumbent Penny Githens (D) is in a 3-way race with Steve Volan and Jody Madeira for the Democratic nomination for County Commissioner District 3.
