The Bloomington Commission on the Status of Women was established in 1973, by a committee of local women leaders interested in closing the gender pay gap in Bloomington. These women wanted a commission to be chartered to investigate what barriers, at a local level, stood in the way of attaining gender pay equity, and what opportunities existed to advance towards this goal. For more information about the 2024 Women’s Market, please contact Marissa Parr-Scott, Program Specialist, at [email protected]. ![]() A Master Plan to guide the future development of Building Trades Park, a former stone quarry that became a city park in 1949, was presented to the Board of Park Commissioners at their regular meeting May 21. Mader Design began work on the master plan in 2023, and conducted two different public input meetings and collected feedback from more than 200 individuals online to develop the master plan. Parks and Recreation Administrator Tim Street said, "The final master plan is not a construction document; rather, we'll use the master plan to make cohesive decisions about construction in the park, and to ensure we are serving the needs of our neighbors and park users." The park's history as a stone quarry poses challenges for accessibility, with numerous grade changes throughout the park. Aging infrastructure, including picnic shelters and playground equipment installed in 2003, are included as needs to address. ![]() The City's two outdoor pools, Bryan Park Pool at 1020 S. Preliminary Member vote results released from third-party administrator Koch Law Firm P.C. revealed Bedford, IN-based Hoosier Hills Credit Union did not receive the majority of Member votes needed to move forward with their proposed merger with Columbus, IN-based Centra Credit Union. Many Hoosier Hills Members and Team Members supported the partnership and understood the opportunity this strategic alignment would bring for Members, Team Members and Communities. However, despite extensive communication from Hoosier Hills outlining the factual details of the merger, the vote was impacted by the circulation of misinformation.
Hoosier Hills and Centra Credit Union announced their intent to merge in January 2024. Regulators approved the merger in March. The two financially sound credit unions planned to join forces and offer Members 38 Service Centers and more than 70 ATMs/ITMs across their combined footprint. If approved, Centra planned to merge into the Hoosier Hills charter, and the continuing credit union would have taken the Centra Credit Union name. Centra President and CEO Rick Silvers was slated to lead the unified Credit Union with Hoosier Hills’ full executive team continuing to serve in executive leadership roles. ![]() In the fast-paced world of IT management, it’s common for IT managers to find themselves reacting to emergencies one after another, often leading to chaos and downtime.
