The Greater Bloomington Chamber of Commerce is seeking nominations for six community awards that recognize and honor individuals, businesses and organizations that have distinguished themselves through outstanding volunteerism, accomplishments and contributions in the community. The awards will be presented at The Chamber’s 109th Annual Meeting & Community Awards on Thursday, September 26, 2024. Anyone in the community may submit nominations. This prestigious recognition places the Greater Bloomington Chamber of Commerce among the top eight chambers in Indiana. In addition to this honor, the Chamber is also a semi-finalist for five Innovation Excellence Awards. The Greater Bloomington Chamber of Commerce’s Foundation, The Success School, seeks nominations for the Educator of the Year Awards to be held this year, at the Chamber’s 109th Annual Meeting & Community Awards on September 26th. Teachers, program directors, counselors, administrators, and instructional staff, from either Monroe County Community School Corporation or Richland Bean-Blossom Community School Corporation are eligible for this recognition. “The Success School is deeply committed to celebrating the outstanding educators who shape the future of our community,” said Katie Sensabaugh, Director of The Chamber’s Foundation & Internal Operations. “These educators not only excel in their professional roles but also significantly contribute to the well-being and development of our students. The Educator of the Year Awards program was established in 2001 to bring members of the business and education communities together while recognizing and celebrating outstanding contributions in the field of K-12 education. The highly coveted awards are given to individuals who have been nominated by school staff, parents, students, and the business community at the Educator of the Year Awards. This year, the Greater Bloomington Chamber of Commerce will be adding the Educator of the Year award program to the 109th Annual Meeting & Community Awards on September 26th. The Greater Bloomington Chamber of Commerce is excited to announce it is now accepting nominations for the 14th Annual Women Excel Bloomington (WEB). Each year, several women are recognized for their outstanding leadership in influencing the growth of others in the community and/or in their professional organization. WEB has a history of recognizing local, civic-minded women from various backgrounds and professions who mentor others and lead by example. Through their actions and initiatives, these women serve as an inspiration and demonstrate outstanding leadership in all they do. These prestigious business leadership awards will be presented at the WEB Awards reception scheduled for Thursday, August 22nd at One World at Woolery Mill. WEB nominees serve as an inspiration, helping others to excel as they lead by example. They may be employed in either the business sector or a non-profit organization. Other criteria include:

All nominations should be submitted to the Chamber on or before Monday, July 1, 2024 at 5:00p.m. This year marks the debut of the Valor Awards, a distinguished ceremony brought to you by the Exchange Club of Northside Bloomington in partnership with the Greater Bloomington Chamber of Commerce. The ceremony is dedicated to honoring the bravery and selflessness of our first responders—firefighters, law enforcement, dispatch, and correctional center officers. Set to spotlight these everyday heroes, the Valor Awards will recognize one individual from each sector for their exemplary service. The event, proudly presented by Old National Bank and Weddle Brothers, will unfold at the Monroe Convention Center on Wednesday, May 8th, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Nominations were solicited from Monroe County entities in four categories: law enforcement, fire, dispatch, and correctional center, with an outside selection committee tasked with reviewing submissions. This business directory and community guide aims to serve as a comprehensive resource for both Chamber members and the broader community, showcasing the wide array of businesses and organizations that contribute to the region's vibrant economy. Connect Bloomington is crafted with the vision of fostering stronger connections within the business community, promoting local enterprises, and highlighting the numerous opportunities for collaboration and growth in Greater Bloomington. The publication is part of the Chamber's ongoing efforts to support economic development and community engagement in the area. The Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business will state-wide tour, Futurecast: Economic Outlook, will come to Bloomington, Ind. on November 9th at the Monroe Convention Center for the 2024 economic forecast in partnership with The Greater Bloomington Chamber of Commerce, and the Bloomington Rotary Club. The tour will begin in Indianapolis, Ind. beginning November 1st, 2023. The Kelley School of Business based on research its Indiana Business Research Center, has been sharing its economic forecasts throughout the state of Indiana for the past 50 years, which has provided crucial economic information needed by many Indiana businesses, government, and nonprofit organizations. This event, previously known as Business Outlook, gives the audience a chance to hear and interact with several of the state's leading economic thinkers as they discuss how the changing economic environment will affect the local region, Indiana, and the nation in the coming year. “The annual Futurecast event gives our community an inside look into the leading economic research and data analysis at IU’s Kelley School of Business,” said Greater Bloomington Chamber of Commerce President & CEO Eric Spoonmore. “We are delighted to partner with the Kelley School of Business and the Bloomington Rotary Club to inform our member organizations on the current economic conditions that can guide strategic decision-making in the year ahead.” PRESS RELEASE: Kaytee Lorentzen Named Director of Communications & Events for Bloomington Chamber8/25/2023 The Greater Bloomington Chamber of Commerce is excited to announce that Kaytee Lorentzen, a dedicated professional with an extensive background in marketing and communications, has been named the new Director of Communications & Events. In her expanded role, Lorentzen will focus on executing strategies that will strengthen the Chamber's visibility, influence, and impact in the community. “Taking on the role of Director of Communications & Events is an exciting step for me," said Lorentzen. "I’m committed to building on what we’ve achieved at the Chamber, both in our events and our outreach. We have a great foundation, and I’m eager to contribute to our next chapter." Since joining the Chamber in 2021, Lorentzen served as the Marketing & Communications Coordinator then as Marketing & Communications Manager earlier this year. Prior to working at the Chamber, her photography business was a Chamber member from 2016-2020. Lorentzen holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism with a concentration in photography from Ball State University. She is currently pursuing her master’s degree in communications at Purdue University and expected to graduate this spring with a concentration in public relations and advertising along with a certificate in strategic communications management. In addition, Lorentzen is a graduate of the Indiana Chamber Executives Association’s Hoosier Chamber Academy. “Kaytee Lorentzen has distinguished herself as a high-impact and valued resource to the Chamber and the members we serve,” said Chamber President and CEO Eric Spoonmore. “She is the perfect fit to lead the Chamber’s strategic communications, marketing initiatives, and event performance.” Lorentzen’s new assignment with the Chamber is effective September 1st.
