The board of directors for the Greater Bloomington Chamber of Commerce announced today that Erin Predmore will be resigning from her position as President & CEO in the coming months. Predmore will stay on through the transition and the search for the next leader of the Chamber is underway. “While being closer to our extended family will be fantastic, I know we will miss the Bloomington community a great deal. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time with the Chamber. Watching new businesses get off the ground, serving the business community during the pandemic, advocating with local, state, and federal officials, and cheering on your successes as you expand and grow – it has been wonderful,” states Predmore. The Greater Bloomington Chamber of Commerce is seeking nominations for seven awards that recognize and honor individuals, businesses and organizations that have distinguished themselves through outstanding volunteerism, accomplishments and contributions in the community. The awards will be presented at The Chamber’s Annual Meeting on Thursday, September 30, 2021. Anyone in the community may submit nominations. The forms are available by visiting www.ChamberBloomington.org or by contacting The Chamber at 812-336-6381 or [email protected]. The deadline for submissions is Monday, August 23 at 5:00 p.m. NOTE: This "It's Your Business" column by Chamber CEO Erin Predmore was published in the July 8, 2021 Bloomington Herald-Times. By now you’ve likely heard about the amazing opportunity our community has with the availability of federal funds from the American Rescue Plan Act, or ARPA. More than $50 million collectively will be coming to the county, going to Monroe County government (about $29 million), the city of Bloomington (about $22 million) and Ellettsville (about $1.5 million). Our local government leaders are soliciting input for how to allocate these funds, which are intended to help post-pandemic recovery. I’d like to contribute a suggestion that would make a meaningful, long-term impact on our community: universal child care. We know the importance of child care in ensuring that our labor force is strong – and if we didn’t know it before, we certainly learned it during the pandemic. Parents struggled to manage their jobs while tending to children who needed attention during the workday. Chamber members, their employees and the public are invited to share in the mouth-watering fun at PrimeTime Business After Hours & Slider Contest slated for Thursday, August 19, from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Monroe County Fairgrounds. The event, which debuted in 2013, is three events rolled into one: Business After Hours, a Business Expo and a delicious slider contest with local restaurants. It is an exciting way for Chamber members to connect with other members and the public to connect with local businesses, while enjoying some tasty samples from local eateries.
This year’s PrimeTime Business After Hours & Slider Contest has over 90 exhibitors and features a variety of drink and food vendors besides the slider teams. Adult beverages are available for purchase. “We are so excited to bring Primetime back this year after the pandemic. It’s a chance for community members to connect with local businesses, enjoy delicious food and have fun together,” said Erin Predmore, President & CEO of The Greater Bloomington Chamber of Commerce.
