Starting Monday, June 13th, the Greater Bloomington Chamber of Commerce held it's annual Chamber Member Appreciation Week. During this week, the Chamber celebrates all of it's members but also highlights it's milestone members. The Chamber even was able to highlight three milestone members this week with a few videos to tell their stories. These stories included Burnham Rentals, ForthPhaze Technology, Inc., and Choice Realty & Management.
Throughout the week, Chamber Ambassador's visited milestone member's businesses to thank them for their membership. Lastly, on Friday, June 17th, the Chamber hosted an Open House at the Chamber office's to celebrate member's businesses and their support of the Chamber. And a special thank you to Jimmy John's, Roly Poly, Kroger, and Crumbl Cookies for the food during the open house, Harris Services, Pfenninger Photography, and Building Associates, Inc., for the donated prizes, Master Rental for the donated party supplies, and to Develefy Consulting. Thank you to all of the Chamber Members for their dedicated memebrship!On Thursday, June 16, 2022, The Greater Bloomington Chamber of Commerce held it's monthly Business After Hours in partnership with the Cancer Support Community. On Tuesday, June 14, 2022, The Greater Bloomington Chamber of Commerce's affinity group, Bloomington Women in Leadership, hosted Indiana University's first woman president, Pamela Whitten, at Henke Hall at the Indiana University Memorial Stadium. There was a presentation by President Whitten, followed by a Q&A session. In attendance were some young participants from Girls, Inc. The presentation was about President Whitten's journey and what lead her to the leadership position she is in today. The women, and young participants in attendance were able to learn how they could apply President Whitten's strategies to their own leadership journeys. Photos from the event are below. Congratulations to Bloomington Regional Rehabilitation Hospital on your new location, Bloomington Regional Rehabilitation Hospital is a 40-bed freestanding medical rehabilitation hospital. They provide comprehensive inpatient rehab services to people recovering from injuries or illnesses. They are passionate patient caregivers, connected at their core by the treatment needs of their patients. Their interdisciplinary team of medical professionals strive to maximize their patients' physical, mental, and cognitive abilities and achieve their highest level of independence. They are led by a rehabilitation physician and a comprehensive team of therapists, nurses, pharmacists, and support staff. They are the only rehab hospital within 50 miles of Bloomington. Their patients receive 3 hours of therapy a day. They have a wonderful patient-to-staff ratio where there is 1 nurse to every 6 patients and accept all major insurances.
On Friday, June 3, 2022, The Greater Bloomington Chamber of Commerce hosted it's first ever Community Conversations at the Golf Club at Eagle Pointe's Eagle's Nest. There was a short presentation by the watershed coordinator, Maggie Sullivan, followed by a panel discussion featuring perspectives on the importance of this resource from community leaders, environmental advocates, scientists, and more to discuss the challenges that may impact businesses, tourism, and sustainability. Attendees were able to come away with a new perspective on the lake's importance to our community and how you can improve its sustainability. The panel featured Alex Crowley (City of Bloomington), Vic Kelson (City Utilities), Jim Krause (Friends of Lake Monroe), Erin Kunkel, MSC (Cook Medical), Jane Martin (Water Fund), and Mike McAfee (Visit Bloomington). Cheryl Munson, Monroe County Council, At-Large Member, moderated the panel's Q&A. Congratulations to Brian Richardson owner of Veteran Hauling, a veteran-owned junk removal and demo company that provides dependable services, with military precision, to businesses, property managers, and overwhelmed souls. At Veteran Hauling they can remove almost anything from hoarding, to helping you clean out a garage. Just last year they removed 300 tons of trash. At Veteran Hauling they love what they do and believe that the way they treat people before, during, and after the process is what sets them apart from the rest.
