On Tuesday, February 8th, 2022, the Greater Bloomington Chamber of Commerce hosted it's bi-monthly Bloomington Women in Leadership (BWIL) event. BWIL is based on three pillars: Empower, Engage, and Inspire. This month focused on Empowerment, noting the accomplishments and efforts in our community of the four women here with us today. The Chamber and Bloomington Women in Leadership recognize the importance of highlighting, advocating for and elevating Black women and women of color to leadership roles in professional organizations. With this panel, we share the journeys of four prominent Black women in Bloomington to highlight their successes, to encourage being an advocate for women of color in the workplace and our community, and, ultimately, to elevate and expand inclusion within our organizations. Eric Spoonmore, President and CEO, introduced our legislators and moderated the Q&A portion. The audience was able to hear from Rep. Bob Heaton (District 46), Rep. Jeff Ellington (District 62), Rep. Peggy Mayfield (District 60), and Sen. Shelli Yoder (District 40). Sen. Eric Koch (District 44), Rep. Rep. Chris May (District 65), and Rep. Matt Pierce (District 61) could not attend this event.
